A long-distance dental trip needs a complete treatment plan and a realistic return-home plan. Compare the scope of care first, then the travel budget. A headline package price cannot tell you whether the trip is right for you.

Travelling from the United States

Ask for an itemized proposal separating treatment, components and each visit. Compare it with a local written quote using the same scope; convert TRY or EUR to USD using a recorded exchange rate rather than an advertised savings percentage. Ask your insurer for a written answer about the proposed overseas care. Include repeat travel and time away from work in your own budget.

Travelling from Canada

Plan how you will share treatment records with your usual dentist. Request the proposed materials, component references and a summary of completed care. Confirm overseas coverage directly with your insurer before assigning it a value in your budget. For a trip priced in another currency, keep the original quote and your CAD conversion separately so a currency change is not confused with a treatment change.

Travelling from Australia

Discuss the entire sequence before arranging a long-haul trip: which decisions await examination, which appointments must be in Istanbul and which questions can be handled remotely. Leave travel dates subject to the clinician’s advice. Ask how an unplanned return would be managed and budget it separately; a short advertised stay is not a personalised recovery or travel clearance.

Compare the same scope on both quotations

Write down the tooth numbers or arch, proposed procedure, implant components where relevant, temporary teeth, final material, laboratory work and follow-up. Mark each item as included, excluded or not yet confirmed. A lower total is not a meaningful saving if it covers fewer teeth, a different material or only the first stage. Ask for the date and currency of the quotation.

Build a travel budget outside the treatment price

List flights for each expected visit, accommodation, transfers and time away from work. Keep a separate allowance for changed travel arrangements. Ask who pays if an additional clinical visit is needed. Do not subtract an expected insurance contribution until your insurer has confirmed the specific treatment and conditions in writing. The clinic cannot determine your home-country reimbursement.

Agree the handover before you travel

Confirm the treating clinician, appointment sequence, consent language and how you will receive your records. Identify a local dental practice for ongoing care and ask the overseas clinic how it handles questions after your return. A remote conversation can help with communication but cannot perform an examination. Request a written explanation of any guarantee, its exclusions and travel costs rather than relying on a headline.
